Message from CEO - Update
Firstly, our thoughts continue to be with everyone across Australia and New Zealand, their families and communities during these times as we know this pandemic is affecting everyone in different ways.
As you would be aware, many states and territories are being greeted with the welcome news of some easing of the current health restrictions imposed by different governments and we are seeing the possibility of borders re-opening sooner, rather than later. This is great news as it will help to bring people together where possible during the upcoming festive season. However, despite the recent easing of restrictions and reopening of borders, it is important to note that the Caravan Industry as well as many other industries are still having to manage the global and local impacts caused by the pandemic.

In the previous “Message from CEO”, I outlined some of the challenges we, at New Age Caravans, and the industry are facing, and the changes required to continue our operations here in Epping Victoria. Whilst some of these areas may have slightly improved, there are still many obstacles we are facing. These include:
Supply Chain – Even though here in Australia we have seen restrictions ease, both us and our suppliers still face many challenges. Our industry like many others relies on both international and domestic suppliers and this supply chain has continued to be impacted with limited product availability. Coupled with uncertain freight times, irregular supply driven by an inability to source raw materials as required and suppliers being caught up in Tier 1 and Tier 2 exposure, this all contributes to longer lead times and production delays.
Staffing – New Age Caravans relies heavily on our wonderful staff who build our fantastic products and as always, the health and safety of our staff and customers is our number one priority. However, with the ongoing pandemic, we, like many manufacturers, have been heavily impacted with staff shortages. This includes staff absenteeism due to exposures and potential exposures resulting in isolation and quarantine periods, staff absent for testing requirements and contractors being unavailable due to potential exposures at other industry sites.
Production – Whilst New Age Caravans, like many in our industry have been very fortunate to be able to continue manufacturing, of which we are extremely grateful for, there are many aspects of our Covid Safe plan that have required us to change the way in which we manufacture. One key change has been managing “safe social distancing” which means that where we would typically have had multiple individuals working on a product at any one time, this number has been greatly reduced meaning it takes longer to build our caravans, pop tops or camper trailers. However, as always, the safety of our staff and customers is our highest priority.
While New Age Caravans will continue to do everything possible and exhaust every opportunity to improve production levels and ensure as many caravans, pop tops and camper trailers are completed before the year is out, unfortunately, given the reasons above it is unlikely that any product with a production date on or after mid-October (a scheduled production date on or after the 15th October 2021) will make it to dealerships before the end of this year.
As we continue to work through these difficult times, we will continue to keep our dealers and customers up-to-date with the latest information available to us. If you have any questions regarding your New Age Caravans purchase, please stay in contact with your dealer and we thank you for your understanding.
I'm very proud of our staff, dealers and customers and the way in which they have been working together to manage through these challenging times. Your support is what drives our focus on the road ahead.
We thank you for your ongoing support and patience. Stay safe.
